This series of paintings called Am Morgen der Flächen I developed through exploring my collection of forms. The compositions are based on designs of flags and traditional emblems.
I separated the elements of their origin environment to negotiate the formal aspects. The compositions are build through layers: coating and removing, sealing and scouring. Within this process I use the opposed qualities of water and wax. Material itself replaces heraldic symbols and takes an active part in generating images.
